Water Life Project

The Water Life Project will initially benefit 100 families & Vulnerable Children (OVC).  We have started with building of water tanks in our first phase. With the funds from Philanthropic people like you, AHCM will be able to build brick water tanks/towers for these families so that they are able to harvest rain water during the rain seasons. This water will take them for a long period during the dry season hence alleviating the problem of fetching water from children since traditionally it’s their role. Also this water will be clean and safe for use.

Wakiso District is a post war conflict area and it’s peri-urban area hence there is prostitution and poverty which has led to the increased number of orphans, street and children from poor families.

In Uganda, all wells are in the valleys and they are far from the house hold say in the range of 1 mile from a household so you find that these children before they go to school they go to the wells and even in the afternoon or evenings. Children become so tied from fetching water and their levels of concentration in classes are low, some develop constant headaches and some of them their height is determined by the number of times they carry water on their heads.

Also Wakiso district for a long time has suffered with the problem of clean and safe water and their no steps taken yet by the government to solve this problem.  So even where wells exist, they don’t have enough water or clean & safe water for the communities yet these communities can be able to utilize the rain water but the problem, they can’t afford to build water tanks.
